Seeing through Hiding

People hide.  They hide at parties, at work with their mates.  And they are tired from hiding.  It takes a lot of energy to hide.  People who hide tend to have symptoms of hiding: they are sick, weary and have a sense of inner exhaustion.

People who hide don’t really want to hide.  They hide to protect themselves.  They have learned that the world can be a hurtful place.  Eventually people who hide forget that they are hiding and loose track of what they are protecting.

There are people who can see behind the cloak of what people are covering.  I tend to be one of these people. People unwrap in front of me.

How do you see behind someone’s cloak?  You connect with them- the deepest part of them.  You intend to see them and let them know you can’t wait to see them.

When they show you a bit of themselves you revel in the awe of their being.  This can feel awkward to someone who has been hiding for so long.  Your excitement for who they are can scare them.  They tend to back away.  They wonder, will you go way now that you have seen a piece of me.  Don’t back away.  Move forward with your intention and energy.  Wait for them in love and wonder.  This can be one of the first times someone has seen them in years in lifetimes.  Wait patiently as if God is about to show up- because God is coming through the the person in front of you.
